Fantastic spring weather today! I got up an hour later than I would have liked, otherwise glad that I did. It's in the upper 60's. Winds from the North West. Perfect for going to Keene. I made it to the summit in average time. I cruised the descent and put in two good digs on the risers. I made it to the base in average time. After making it to the base, I headed back. It was non-stop climbing. The legs felt good. The air temperature was ideal. I didn't have to take off any layers. I had a few things to think about, so that made the miles go quickly. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts, trying to keep the wattage up there. There was some traffic mitigation, so I had to let traffic by. I was a bit concerned about my right leg. The upper quad was hinting on soreness. I kept an eye on it. It never escalated. I was listening to the GPS announcements. That helped me understand what sort of power I was putting in throughout the climb. It helped. I kept the tempo high going over the top. After cresting the summit, I took a few moments to recover on the bike. Then I headed back home. I had a nice tailwind so things went fast. After the dig to the top of Weston, I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I was in the zone most of the time. I had stuff to think about, so it made things go quicker. Ailments were minimal. Some hand numbness while digging out of the saddle. My legs held up nicely. Balance was good. Nutrition was good. I fed a banana, grapes and apple sauce before the start of the ride. That held me over plenty. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, I saw 2 cyclists today. What an excellent day to get out!
