Yangshuo We had the clearest and sunniest weather for the final day of our bike tour. It was a little too hot at times but man was it nice to be able to see the karst formations, and the scenery in general, clearly. I think the thing we said the most today, and for the trip in general, was, “It’s so pretty!” So many pretty neighborhoods, pretty trails, and pretty views! More dead ends but again they were worth checking out for the views. I need to go back and count up how many there were. I didn’t realize I needed to keep track of this but I’m curious how many canine dead ends we encountered on this trip. We had several today, including one where a pack of dogs came pouring out of this house with one dog following us out while the owner was yelling from somewhere in the house. I wonder if treats would help next time. 🤔 Speaking of houses, we visited some areas with nicer ones and nicer, more modern, buildings in general. I was digging the aesthetic. Other than the path next to the river, today was all new stuff. I was wondering on today’s ride if part of the Qingming Festival is to clean the grave sites of your ancestors, then why leave the used and empty firecracker boxes there instead of throwing those away too? Given all the bushwhacking we did, I’m surprised at how few marks I have to show for all the non-consensual touching from the flora. I think the attacks from my pedals to my knees and my achilles were worse. All in all, an amazing trip. Looking forward to other people being able to enjoy the area when Emily figures out the route.
