It's a great day to get out. Perfect for going to SS. The weather is in the 60's. Winds from the North West. It was a challenging day due to the wind. I wore arms, knees, thick base layer with newspaper, and I brought my head cap in my jersey for later. The legs felt ok to start. I made it to the top of OTR in good average time. The Bnaducci Wall had a lot of traffic mitigation, so it was tough to settle into a tempo. Top that with a headwind, and it was challenging. More of the same to the summit. When I reached the summit, I noticed that I was a bit cold in the head, so I put my skull cap on. That made a huge difference, especially, with the downhill segment that was next. I made it to the summit in average time at best. I could tell that it was going to be a slow ride. I took it easy on the downhill. No risking it. The trek to the farmland was into a headwind, so no heroics, just steady tempo. I made my way around the back side of SS. I put in a good sprint on the downhill. I stopped to take a bio break at the local park. I passed the tunnel in about 1:10 hours, or so. So, it was to be a slow ride today. I stopped at the local mini mart to mix a sport drink. Shortly after, I got back on the road. I kept the tempo steady. There was a tailwind, so the return was faster than the outbound leg. I passed Boss Hogs in around 1:25-ish hours. Plus or minus. That meant I made up some time on the return. I stopped at the bottom of the last climb to feed. From there, I made my way up the climb. I kept the tempo around moderate. Route 202 had minimal traffic mitigation, so it was safe. Descending off OTR was fun and games. I stopped to say hi to the local horses. They were busy grazing, so no attention for me. I pushed over Mariposa and made my way back to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I had stuff to think about, making the time go quicker while being in the zone most of the time. No gremlins to mention. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Some hand soreness. Some minor hip soreness that didn't escalate. I'm wondering if I should adjust the saddle either the height, or fore-aft. Nutrition was good. I fed a banana, some grapes and apple sauce before the start of the ride. I fed a Clif Bar and went through most of my sport drink during the ride. Other notes, I saw about 3 cyclists. One of which was casual.
