I thought today was going to be a bit warmer, but it was in the mid 80's when I got out. I had lab today, so I got out a bit later than usual. My legs felt ok out the door, considering that I was going into a strong headwind. I made it to the top of the descent in about 11 minutes or so. I was cruising it, so that was actually a good time. The downhill was nice and calm, no cars to contend with. I was sufficiently warmed up when I reached Keene. I felt better this time in the first few miles than the previous Keene ride. I did moderate to good tempo and pushed it a bit over the monument. After that, I was in energy conservation mode. I planned on doing OTR after and then Banducci, depending on my energy levels. After making the first summit, I took a minute break, had some fluids, changed the gopro mode and then continued. I was still feeling good with minimal ailments at this point. Such was also the case when I reached the end of OTR. I was decided to climb Banducci. In doing so, I felt good going up the wall, but then shortly after, I felt some soreness in the lower back. It persisted for the remainder of the climb. If it had gotten worse, I would have had to stop in the middle of the climb. I ended up alternating in and out of the saddle and different stances. That was enough to stave off the pain. When I reached the summit, I took a 2 or 3 minute break and ate my energy bar. From that point on, my back was fine. It just needed a bit of a reprieve. I felt good the rest of the way and enjoyed the descent. Gearwise, everything is working great. The wheels feel real good. Everything else is working great. I have to clean out my pedals again, as there was some squeeking (ever so slightly). Otherwise, the bike was nice and silent. I did notice something that was unexpected, I can hear the front wheel chopping through the wind. It sounded very low frequency and only audible if you were really closely paying attention. Other notes, no clicking from the cassette region today. There was 1 other cyclist whom I crossed paths twice.
