Todays weather was a bit warm, but comfortable for a vigorous ride. My legs felt ok out the door. Going through OTR was a bit faster than usual as there was turbulent winds that sometimes turned into a tailwind. I was sufficiently warmed up by the time I reached route 202. I wasn't sure what type of ride I was going to put in on the outbound. I was doing good time up the first and only climb. Over the top, I realized that I was still doing good time. I reached 40+mph on the downhill and kept my momentum for as long as I could. The winds, at this point, were more of a tail-cross. I kept the tempo high for the entire out-bound leg. I was having to stay on the hoods for the most part as I didn't want to fatigue my hips by staying in the drops. I was a bit exhausted when I reached the turn-around point. I put a significant amount of effort into it. I started the return trip modest and lifted the pace just a bit as my muscles recuperated. I wa able to give it a push over the last kickers. I decided to climb Banducci. I climbed the wall faster than expected and did good tempo for the remainder of the climb. The return trip was mostly modest tempo and a few efforts where the road kicked up. My ailments primarily consisted of pain near the left hip, perhaps some numbness in the right hand. Not a whole lot of back pain. Some saddle soreness early and later in the ride. Balance was pretty good. Concentration was good as well. Gear is working well, but I forgot to clean up the right pedal. When I reached OTR and 202, I cleaned out the pedal with a bit of water. That seemed to stop the clicks for most of the ride. Other notes, I saw a turkey vulture today and one cyclist.
