Initially I was going to go short but seeing one of my buddies did a nice semi long solo ride, I upped my game some to 30 miles. The start of the ride was really cloudy, misty/sprinkling and little windy but nice otherwise. Around the 10 mile mark the road I was supposed to take was closed forcing me to make this a longer ride. I was feeling good, (not thinking about the nice tailwind). I get to Rte. 206 and start feeling a shift in the wind figuring it was the traffic. l was only on it for a short time, I turn off onto a country road. My speed had dropped big time, was it the rough road or maybe the small hill? Had to be! I finally get to the top and to the open area, finally see a cyclist on the opposite side of the road heading towards my she is smiling and enjoying her ride, I wave she waves back. She's smiling because she has a strong tail wind! I realized it was going to be a headwind all the way home... I soon see another cyclist coming towards me he was pushing hard with the tailwind, I wave he kind of nodded not wanting to break his concentration, LOL! I almost had a cramp pop up on my left hamstring. I relaxed then took a big sip of my drink. I was good to go. This part of the road was tough because it was out on the open and the road was pretty rough! I finally make it to Rte 70, 15 miles to home. I like this road because of the wide shoulders and the nice road surface! It starts to get darker and it's no longer misty, it is now sprinkling enough for big drops falling off my helmet. I get 1.5 miles from my turn off this road and my Garmin looses satellite connection it doesn't get connection for 2.5 miles, when it reconnects it doesn't recalculate the distant travel or hills climbed. I'm just wanting to get home, I'm getting chilly, I pass 2 cyclist all bundled up like they were out for a winter ride! The last mile was with a tailwind making it a nice cool down... Be safe out there and enjoy the ride!
