Absolutely beautiful day to go to Paradise on Rainier today. Drive to Rainier had stunning views of the west side of Rainier. Skunk cabbage was in full bloom near Longmire and relatively no traffic all day. Was flirting with the idea of doing Longmire to Paradise twice today but started late and the temps were starting to drop when I headed down. The descent gets cold really fast in that there are 6-10' of vertical snow walls on each side of the road and so it is like biking thru a freezer at 30 mph. No assist for the 12 miles to Longmire and then only level 1 to Paradise but those 12 miles consumed 28% of the battery ie 2.3% per mile. This is more than twice the useage when I am riding fairly flat terrain and keep the speed above 16 mph which has been averaging 1% per mile. There is some logic to this in that the battery provides no power at 20mph and starts shutting down around 15 mph.
Note: After 50 miles and 4,000' of elevation, I ended up with 72% of the battery left.
