Things feel really weird of late. For starters, Blaze may be suffering from a progressive, degenerative disease. In spite of being off the flea/tick meds for two months now, his stumbling has gotten alarmingly worse in the last three weeks, with face-plant wipeouts being a daily occurrence. The vet has no definite diagnosis as to whether it’s a neurological impairment or orthopedic.
The poor little guy is having increasing difficulty getting up and down the stairs and seems weak on longer walks in the park.
I’m dreading the prospect of having to euthanize him and have been obsessing on that eventuality. I just feel so bad for him. He had a terrible life with Liah, and to have to suffer such impairment now just breaks my heart!
Far more trivial by comparison was the back door lock jamming as we were about to head out on this ride. Luckily, I had spare parts available to fix the damned thing and got it working correctly in short order.
In addition to the freaky lock malfunction, Strava failed to record the ride for some odd reason, and when attempting to upload the camera photos to the PC, the damned PC wouldn't recognize the Canon!! I had to do a reboot to get everything working properly.
As far as the ride was concerned, under sunny skies, temps in the mid-eighties, dewpoints in the sixties, and variable winds, this ride started out fine but became very tiring at the 18-mile mark, similar to the past two rides. I don’t know what the hell is going on, but this fatigue and back discomfort is disconcerting. Beats me as to what’s going on.
Oddly enough, I had my best run in ages a mere two days ago on Friday, doing 12.52/mile for 5.5 miles. Go figure!
