Start time was 5:59 ( not the 659 RWGPS has). It was chilly at the start! My computer says 61, but driving up it was 54F, so I put on my orange wind breaker since I did not have a vest. After a couple miles I took it off! Oh it was nice to be cool. The ride out to the Mobile station was fun! There are the country club driving range of mile 7/1 & 8/5 were a couple of deer on the range! Cool. Rode pretty hard out to Mormon Lake and caught a West Valley rider! Then caught her husband. By the time I made it to Mormon Lake camping area, there was a Cheryl & Dave of WVC with about 7 other strong riders! The 2 WVC I had "picked-up" were part of that pack! Lee of Bull Shifters was in that group. We were there at the showers/laundry area. They opted to return to Flag via the way I came, so off I went to Clint's Well. I had a headwind going to Clint's Well, so I knew as soon as I got there I had better turn around to get the advantage of the wind as it might change in the early afternoon! What a blast coming back up the hill from Clints! I stopped at the Happy Jack Lodge, the little store. They have changed it around a bit and from the store, you can not get to the restrooms! So they have a hose out front to get water and port-o-potties near the driveway entrance. So I used both of those and had a couple small chocolate milks and ate my peanut butter coated waffle I brought from home. Funny story here that at the top of the descent of the Blue Ridge on the way to Clints, say mile 56, I had stopped and got the waffle out of the saddle bag and moved it to my jersey. Then as I was returning back up toward Happy Jack Ranger station, somewhere in there I stopped and noticed that my saddle bag was open and my orange vest was hanging partially out! I bet it was that way from before my descent! Whew, that was lucky to have not lost anything. On the return to Mormon Lake Store I stopped in to get some gatorade but I think they did not have any! So got more chocolate milk. Outside on the sidewalk there were 2 gallons of water left, so I filled-up with those. Nice day of riding. Thank you Dave & Cheryl!
