This circular route starts and finishes in Albertville and climbs the slightly easier but longer approach to the Col de la Madeleine. Initially following the valley road towards Moutiers before turning onto the climb proper, which climbs steeply at first along switchbacks then levels out before resuming for a long steep finale to the summit. The descent first fast and open to the ski resort of Longchamps before becoming more technical as it drops to the valley floor and La Chambre. The route then turns north along the minor roads heading out of the Frejus valley into final climb to the village of Bonvillard, which is a test for tired legs. The descent is followed by 10 Km of easier cycling back to Albertville.
