Quartzville Scenic Byway

This ride starts from Sunnyside Park a few miles east of Sweet Home. The first 6 miles or so consists of mostly gradual climbing, to the top of Green Peter dam. Around mile 9 is the bridge crossing the top end of the reservoir, followed by another mile of gradual climbing to the Whitcomb Rec Area turn-off. The next 11.5 miles on the Quartzville Scenic Byway goes by several rec sites. There are several short gravel spots, most perpindicular to the road and about a foot wide. Also a lot of roadside camping. Yellowbottom Campground is at mile 23 and just beyond is the day use area. However, it was closed. The FS-11 road junction is around mile 23.5. Followed the 11 Road for about 1.75 miles and made that the turn-around point. Ride time 1:42 and 1750 feet climbing. Nice return trip, with a little up-canyon headwind. Would like to explore the 11 Road. I believe there is a long, steep climb on that road.

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail).
