A nice morning ride brought us to Rio San Antonio where we found no viable water. Some antelope hunters gave me a couple of liters then all of us got caught in a thunder storm, hail and a torrential downpour that turned the road to mud. Descending in increasing rain our party split up. I continued to the big US64 climb to Hopewell Lake CG, where none of the pumps had water. The road was dry there so I continued south on 91B to our original dispersed camping objective in increasing rain, they were nice sites but soaking as I was. I continued to descend to Cańon Plaza where the expected convenience store did not exist. I saw a little church called Our Lady of Mount Carmel Mission Church, parked my bike, brought all my stuff in to dry and cooked some soup and tea on the hearth beside the wood stove before getting some sleep on my mattress and quilt between the pews
