Bob cooked up this route to mix it up. New roads or roads that I've rarely ridden or haven't ridden in this direction. I didn't really pay attention to how short and steep the ride was initially and didn't really find out until this morning. Zayante Rd. was quite a lot busier in the morning than when we normally ride it towards the end of the ride in the afternoon. We checked out this new place, The Point Scotts Valley, for lunch that was just okay. When Bob found it, one of the reviews complained about the yellowjackets, which he got to learn first hand about as it crawled into his sleeve without him knowing and stung him in the armpit. Most of the ride was quite pretty and on back roads. Unfortunately there wasn't really a better alternative going through Scotts Valley. Close to the start of the descent of Old Santa Cruz Hwy, just after we did Mtn. Charlie, I got stung in my stomach. By far the most painful sting among all the recent ones I've gotten. I've gotten stung more times in the past couple of months than the whole rest of my life! Unlike the others, I didn't feel the bee or wasp even though I was going quite fast. All I felt was the sting going in slowly or at least the pain growing slowly. It was kind of too painful to continue descending and I slowed right down until Bob and Sonny caught up to me. I stopped at the bottom to look at it. It looked like a small chunk of flesh had been dished out. It was actually worse on the drive home probably from the seating position causing my shirt to rub against it. By the time I got home, the wound had closed up although it doesn't appear to have swelled at all but it hurts a lot more. It's quite annoying.
