Today the Olympic discovery Trail paid off. For a lot of the section between the Seqium State Park and Port Angeles is off-road and on the trail. There is also some fantastic railroad bridges on the trail and newer, unique architecture bridges. The city of sequin seemed really nice. I was really impressed by the main park. It was complete with ball-field, an elaborate dog park, a pickleball court pond and amphitheater plus, I’m sure a lot more. I talked to a couple people at the Pickleball court and got invited to play, but I didn’t want to get off track for my tour. Up to this point I had it made great mileage on time, but I was sure enjoying the ride. Working my way to Port Angeles was along the trail and some roads. It even went along the bayfront. Unfortunately the fog and clouds were thick, and I got no opportunity to see the Olympic mountains nor a good view of the bay the temperature also dropped into the low 50s from the low cloud layer along the bay. I still explored the pier and waterfront in Port Angeles. I was finally able to execute my Subway run of two sandwiches one for now and one for later for dinner. I returned back to the waterfront to resume my ride on the trail and explore out on a spit that goes out and has the port pilots and the Coast Guard station. I saw too many deer to count. I finished off the good parts of the trail in this section and unfortunately had to resume to a very busy highway. My destination was a first come first serve free DNR site. Just before I got there some car was passing other cars coming the opposite way and I had to pull off into the grass on the side of the road pretty scary as it was passing probably more than 60 miles an hour. Of course I had to go down a steep section to reach the campground. So I was happy that the camp host offered the day area for me to stay at. There was one more site that wasn’t available, but this is actually nice because I’m closest to the water and undercover picnic table area and the restroom are all nearby.
