Finally able to do another run at the Fruit Loop Ride. First 4.8 miles climbs into Upper Hood River then descends to HIghway 281 (Tucker Rd). The next few miles continues on 281 to the Lost Lake Rd turn-off. Another climb into orchard country and to the first control point. Return to Highway 281 and continue south to Trout Ridge Rd turn-off. This is another short, steep climb , then it becomes more gradual. At Okd Parkdale Rd, the route veers right into Parkdale. There is a short bike path from the Grange to the 3-way intersection at Baseline Rd. There is also the Clear Creek historic site and Huston Museum. It was at this point my Garmin beeped a warning stating my DI shifting battery was low (20%). First time that has happened. The route then makes a 1.6 mile gradual climb on Clear Creek Rd to another orchard and farm and the second control point. Enjoyed the downhill back into Parkdale then more downhill and a couple short rollers to HIghway 35. Fortunately, the route goes on 35 for only about 1/4 mile then turns right onto Miller Rd and another climb. Noticed a helicopter flying over a fresh logging site, likely spraying herbicide. Got a nice surprise at the 90-degree turn. Some kids were selling pears, plums and lemonade. Stopped for a lemonade then continued on Miller Rd to Highway 35. Another 1.5 mile section on 35, before turning onto Neal Creek Rd. More climbing on Booth Hill Rd followed by a steep descent back to 35. Cross Highway 35 on Straight Hill Rd and continue to the thrid control point, Hood River Lavender Farms. Return to Straight Hill Rd and another steep descent to Davis Dr. Two more short, steep climbs before hitting 35 again. The next 5 miles is on 35 to the State St. turn-off. More climbing through town, with headwind, until reaching 13th Ave. Last 1/2 mile is on Highway 30 back to Walmart.
