It rained overnight and there was a chance of showers this morning but luckily the roads were dry and it stayed that way, with the sun just starting to peak out towards the end. It was humid ride with some deer and a first - about a half dozen chickens as a came around a corner descending Kings. They of course freaked out and one tried to run across the road and started to fly. Luckily, it thought better of it and turned back otherwise I might have had a chicken to the face. Supposedly, Noah, who was behind me, brushed that chicken with his foot. At the coffee stop, when we were talking about them, I think Noah mentioned the chickens getting smeared across the road and then I said chicken tartare. Natalie then said, chicken tar-tarmac. Natalie didn't seem like she was in a good mood during the ride and when we got to The Village Hub, this was the third time this week that they didn't have the Chocolate Pistachio Kouign Amann that she was so looking forward to. Earlier she had taken a photo of this QR code the church there has. Something about offering a prayer for you. When I asked her about it, that just set her off, wishing they'd answer her prayer of having a kouign amann. She was pretty bummed about it all and shutting down any types of comparisons or consolement which lead me to compare her to Marvin from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. That seemed to get her out of her funk. Now I want to watch the old BBC miniseries again. Not the movie, which wasn't as good. Found out Natalie is a fan of Red Dwarf. Also want to go back and rewatch that. The Sheep Camp Trail gravel piles continue to be piles instead of graded into the trail.
