Route 66, Day 37: Coming down from the mountains; camping at the caverns; flats 16 & 17

Williams to Grand Canyon Caverns, AZ
It was a cold morning leaving Williams with temperatures dipping into the 30'sF and the route starting out with a long descent. There was more time riding on the shoulder of interstate 40 and a couple more flats. At the end of the day we rolled in to the campground at Grand Canyon Caverns. We set up the tent, repaired the tear caused by an overly exuberant and unleashed Labrador puppy when we were camping in Meteor Crater a couple days ago. We decided to go on the Cavern tour, which was fun but did run pretty late; it was dark by the time the tour was over. Dinner was a hodge-podge of leftover burrito, mac-n-cheese, six ears of corn and some carrots from Seligman. It sounds gross but it tasted really good. We slept pretty well with the trains and road noise being farther off.

  • TCX History

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

  • GPX Track (.gpx)

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
