If October is any indicator of the winter to come, it may just be the most arctic and snowiest in at least a decade! Another unseasonably cold day, with daytime highs averaging five to ten degrees below normal. Today’s ride once again featured brilliant blue skies, temps starting out in the upper forties, struggling to make it into the low fifties, and an icy, NNE wind of ten to fifteen. I was pretty tired today after yesterday’s outing. I guess running down that Clydesdale, burning up the path on a hybrid, really took a lot out of me! The pursuit of trying to find some brilliant fall foliage in Douglaston was pretty much a fruitless endeavor, with bright reds and oranges a scarce commodity. Perhaps being so close to the water, with its moderating effect on overnight low temps, had an influence on the lack of color.
