Today I decided to go up Banducci first and then Willow Springs. I think it worked out better than going vice-verse. My legs felt real good today. I hardly needed any time to get warmed up. The weather was much cooler than the previous ride. I reached the end of OTR under 19 minutes. It usually takes me 22-23 minutes. I didn't spare any moment to stop, so I proceeded to Banducci. There was a slight head-wind on the way up and to the top of the summit. I paced myself doing good tempo up the wall, recovered over the plateau and good steady tempo to the summit. I took a minute to catch my breath and set the Gopro to movie mode. From there I descended and started the highline leg. The weird thing about this ride was the wind. For the first 2 miles or so, the wind was going south-east. So I had a headwind at that point. About 3 miles into highline, the wind reversed directions. So, when I reached the turnaround point, I had a nice tailwind. I kept the tempo nice and high. Just as I got to the last few kickers, the headwind returned and I was out of the saddle, WOT, to get over those 2 kickers. After that point it was moderate and steady tempo. I reached OTR feeling good and was able to keep the pace high for the remainder of the ride. My concentration was real good. Balance was much better than other days. Ailments were almost non-existent. Although I did feel a bit of soreness in my right calf. It never escalated to anything worse. Gear is working great.
