The weather today was nice. I bit warm in the beginning of the ride, but it cooled off a bit, especially as I got into the Banducci mountains. Out the door, my legs were a bit heavy. I didn't know what to expect for the ride this early into it. I think it took me until the end of OTR for my legs to feel lively. I kept a good pace going up the Banducci wall and as I crest that part, I did moderate tempo to let my legs recover. I was feeling better at this point and was able to hold a good pace for the remainder of the climb. I made it there in above average time which surprised me a bit. I descended the mountain and did moderate tempo until I reached the farm-lands. Once I reached that part, I put it into high tempo. going into SS, I backed off a bit, and pushed it over the top. When I reached the tunnel, I realized I was doing good time. It was under 1 hour at that point. I held high tempo through town, all the way to the exit. The return leg on Banducci was mostly moderate tempo. Once I reached Pelisser, I increased the tempo all the way to the base of the CVR climb. I passed Boss Hogs in under 1:09 hrs. My legs were good and I was able to maintain high tempo through the last climb. I pushed it over the top, recovered a bit and got back on the power, all the way to route 202. From that point on, it was all about maintaining my momentum. Ailments consisted of a bit of a sore right knee going into the SS climb. My concentration was right on. In the zone for the most part. It was a good day for balance. That return leg on Banducci always gets me, I'm not sure why. I just get this slight leaning tendency. Gear is working perfect.
