New route. New roads. New towns. Road the southern part of the New River Trail, was actually a nice stretch of the trail. Road past the Phoenix Raceway and that was pretty cool to see (it was empty though). Got down to Estrella Mountain Park and the town of Estrella. Nice area down there. Ended up having to stop at a Starbucks for a water refill…cause apparently the whole town of Estrella only drives EVs. No need for gas I suppose. Even the Safeway (only grocery store in the area) didn't have a fuel center. So sure, why not Starbucks. Starbucks…not real crowded inside. Walked right up to the counter, looking stylish in my cycling kit, helmet, cleats clacking on the floor. Grabbed a bottle of water and figured I would grab a juice too. The nice guy that rang me up said to me, hey I can get you a cup of ice water if you want, instead of buying that bottle of water and save you a bit. Whoa, nice job kid. So I put the water back and bought the juice. Kid said your water will be right up. Great! Figured he would go grab it for me. Nope. Put my name in the list with all the people in the drive through I guess. I shit you not…I waited 15min for that glass of ice water! Kid kept looking at me as I stood there in my cycling kit and helmet, cleats - hopefully gauging their floor. Guess they thought I was on lunch break or something. In general…I'm not the type of person to expect special treatment, I'm okay with waiting my turn…but it was a glass of water. If I ordered a black coffee, I would have gotten it faster. So, I had a nice break. Good new route overall. Weather was decent. Some roads were a bit iffy, but nothing too bad. Some roads were great too :) After I introduce the wheel to Estrella…I'll show them gasoline too.
