Charles Kyle wrote My ride Tuesday was a little shorter than I wanted. I will have to add some distance next week. I think what I am going to do is plan on doing 6 short loops and three long loops. This will add a good 30 minutes of "hard" riding. The ride out to Quebec is a good warm-up so I do not think adding a 15 minute warm-up at the beginning would help, nor would I be able to roll out with the group. Adding 15 minutes at the end would mean that I show up at Conte's with the group and then roll back out to noodle for 15 minutes, the ride from Military to Conti's is already a good cool down.
AS far as the overall ride. I removed the shims yesterday so both shoes were the same. This made the seat feel a little low but it might be okay.
The rode out to Quebec was easy, not a bad warm-up. The first lap was good, felt strong, had a good climb. I should have been more aggressive on the descents. I need to really get down on the drops for the short descents and work on that. Second, third and forth, logically, got more difficult. I need to work on having a "jump" for the last few meters on each loop. I should have added one or two more loops. I think I will do this next week in order to increase my mileage. I now know the route so I no longer have to worry about staying with the group. I can use the fodder to work on closing gaps.
The long loops on military went well. I failed to implement a "jump" at the end of each of these. I will do that next time. I did a big chain ring first loop and small second. I could also increase this by one loop for mileage too.
Positives: I hit 1345 watts and 1322 for 5s. If I go into Critical Power (under classic mode reports) I increased almost ALL of my critical power categories. I can't wait til next week to see if I can get them to jump again. I need to focus on 5 minute and 10 minute efforts. I really want a 417 watt effort for 5 minutes.
All in all good ride. ***
