Yesterday and this morning (image of this morning enclosed and image of this afternoons “Time Line Shift” evidence enclosed also.
First image depicts a training itinerary composed of 1 hr 52 min Zone 2 between 91 and 131 watts for mitochondria and endurance training.
I arrived home midday after 5 hrs of driving hungry so I figured I’d cook up a cup (dry) of rice and add honey to once it was done and since today was going to be low power endurance oriented I’d be fine eating and rolling out right away as digesting while riding happens fast as long as the pace or power output leaves plenty of of blood available for the digestive process.
I mount my bike and power up my Garmin 1050 LOW and BEHOLD!? We are now scheduled to do a 20 min warm at 111-152 watts, then 15 - 10 second 624 - 684 watt intervals with 20 seconds recovery time between each effort. These kinds of workouts are known as “The Quad Pain Cave” 🐲🔥
Finished off with a 15 min minute cool down.
The proble i quickly realized is that one, I was psychologically ready for a Zone 2 day.
Fueling wise my lunch would still be in my stomach digesting at the start of these intervals.
Digestion stalls when one goes into the anerobic mode. Fermentation of the stomach contents once digestion stalls.
With digestion in play, a lot off the blood supply is not available to the legs, lungs and heart. This is why so many cyclist trying to do full throttle intervals end up pulling over and throwing up 🤮 on the side of the road.
None of that creates greater fitness.
I went ahead did what I felt I could bearing the above realities.
I was able to muster a handful of intervals in the 500+ watt range and the rest only in the 400+ range and it was obvious that the honey was only trickling into my muscles and it wasn’t until I was done and heading back homes that i could feel that the full rice and honey carb load was available for a solid and effortless ride back.
So power output was lackluster but I got in some sun ☀️ miles 🚴🏾
