Joy led this hike in the woods. Really needed snowshoes despite the "packed" paths - after all, we have 18" of POWDER! Unfortunately the snowshoes that I loaned to Lisa broke shortly after we started, so she tromped thru the snow with her Merrells (and eventually my gaiters). Ellen nicely loaned her snowshoes to Lisa for the 2nd half of the walk. Slow but lovely hike. Temps in low 30s with sun, we all warmed up quickly! Poor Lynn fell several times, her snowshoes were awkwardly long - she was a good sport, always laughing! From Joy: "So. Much. Fun! What an exhilarating & exhausting 3-mile expedition in Chamberlin Woods this morning! We saw a few other people with dogs, but we mostly had the woods (and a lot of powdery snow) all to ourselves. We even broke trail and bushwacked across unmarked terrain – because we could! :-) We saw a few deer in the distance (and lots of tracks). We crossed a snow-packed babbling brook 2x, and we made it to the old Limestone Quarries before turning back.
