I under estimated how cold it would get when rounding the bend into Ward Cove area. I started from KTN with street tires and fenders in the rain. About 41F. My intention was possibly reaching Brown Mountain road via various trails and roads. By the time I reached the road to Frog Pond, vapors when breathing hard became apparent. This also made me wary of ice potential when crossing wood structures such as bridges. By the time I reached Last Chance campground the rain and temperatures kept dropping. It was there I decided to add clothing layers and rethink my route choices. Nope, straight home, try again on another day. By the time I passed Temsco on the way back, temperatures were just a little warmer but the rain wasn't getting better.
