I had little options for breakfast in Suanbo bit I did manage a coffee and a scone before cycking off uphill outbof town.
Soon I passed a Rock carving of the seated Buddha, which is a National Heritage Treasure #97
I then had two climbs within ghe first 10 miles being 600ft and 1400ft. I had given myself till midday but was up bith by 11am.
At the top were great views back down the valley and there was a Tunnel which reduced the climb by all of 20ft .. Why put a tunnel at the top ?
A Korean guy going the opposite way arrived and we both helped each other take a photo.
A super fast descent took me into the valley of the Nakdong River and an open agrucultural area. But after 20 miles a small hill range forced the river into a huge horseshoe and I followed a good route running parallel to the river and motorway down into Mungyeong where I managed Lunch at a riverside cafe.
I inadverantly saved my ride so today tgerexare two separate rides until I can get a PC to combine them.
I followed the river south until it met up with another forcing the cyckeway into two massive loops to progress a few yards !
Feeling good and with about 20 miles to go tge route got nasty, I passed two Koreannlads pushing their bikes as the path ramped up to well over 10% on a decked section - as I ploughed on the deck did a 180 where four elderly Korean gentlemen applauded me as I blew hard on the way past.
After another 100yards the deck became an impossible concrete path - I had to dismount and struggled to even push the bike, my Garmin showdd 28% gradient as I climbed about 300ft.
Eventually I reached the top road and passed a sign saying Grave of Loyal Cow - I gad to look and it took me to a few temple like buildings and a couple of inscribed stones which may gave been the grave.
Ne t I got a bit lost and descended 300 ft diwn a dead end to the river - a furtger 25% climb required to get back !
I passed a footbridge which linked to an island snd a further brudge to the other side, next a bridge with stainless steel bicycles all the way across each side.
The last 10 miles had a sting in the tail with frequent 10% plus clicks befire I eventually reached my Motel for the night where a difficukt checkin ensued using dodgy mobile phone translations !
The guy eventually checked me in and made me rush to catch food at the local restaurant, which seemed to be in no hurry to close after I had my hot water bone broth with fermented veggies !
