Like a good long ride leader I published where I was planning to go, and on the morning changed my mind, I started pretty much as planned, using the tried and tested route cutting through the Hedge to get off the M40 slip road, then on up to Tatling End, skirting Gerrards Cross, and staying on top of the Hedgerley valley we followed the M40 to the services, where pulling in to the rear of the Hope and Champion we had our morning tea’s and coffee looking at the lake. After elevenses we continued into Beaconsfield via the football club and footbridge, around a very pleasant housing estate (new to me) and on up the hill past the Royal Standard, left at the church at Penn took us to Tylers Green, then through a private road to Hazlemere, we then descended a surprisingly big hill into High Wycombe, where we stopped at The William Robert Loosley (Weatherspoons ) for lunch.
(I discovered that morning my intended lunch stop was a gastro pub)
After lunch I followed the valley to Borne End, using the cycle path around the Rye, a brief discussion changed our afternoon Tea to Eats and Treats in Farnham Common, and I diverted us off to go up Windsor hill, on route to the base of the climb we heckled the Medium ride which was heading in the opposite direction, then we all enjoyed the road as it winds ever steeper out of the valley.
Margret left us to go to the farm shop, Angela headed home, Sandra and I soon turned off leaving the remainder of the group to try and find their own way home.
Nice winter ride, good weather, very little over muddy bits were back to Farnham common by 3pm
