Went to head out for a ride yesterday- first since returning from last Monday from our 4 day stay at a friends off grid modern log cabin just 31 miles from the Trail of 100 Giants in the Sequoia National Forest 240 miles northeast of where we live in Riverside. Our 35th anniversary 😊💕💃🏾💗🦶🏽☀️🌴🏔️
Tuesday was too full of things that needed to be sorted out to get in a ride - didn’t help that the air quality was awful here also.
The peace ✌🏾 I felt up in the Sierra mountains 🏔️ was so profound I still feel as if something inside me just evaporated and is gone and I don’t know what’s gone?
By some kind of miracle, it rained Tuesday night - morning and erased the smog!
Mounted up and go for a ride yesterday afternoon only to realize my Garmin 1050 was missing!
The “Find My” feature on my iPhone in the Garmin Connect app says “Last Known Location” was up at the cabin in the Sequoia National Forest 240 miles away!
Tried to reach the cabins local housekeeper to see if she could confirm the 1050 was there before committing to the 4 1/2 hr drive each way to see if I could find and fetch it. No luck - Voicemail…
Woke up at 1130pm ready to get up and get going.
Fixed a big lunch and took off at 435am to drive the 240 miles each way to fetch my 1050.
4 hrs 20 min later after entering the cabin and my phone connecting to the WiFi and my zooming in on the computers location via the “Find My” it became clear that it was on the nightstand in the bedroom!
Hung out with Marianne the housekeeper for a while then followed her over to her house to see her dammed off stream full of giant trouts! She threw hands full of dry cat food to the fish and they attacked the stuff like piranhas! Cool lady.
Drove the 4 hr 10 min back.
While talking with Steve Pimentel by phone while in route, it dawned on me that I hadn’t done any single leg pedaling in many years.
So I suited up and set out for SART Inland and I switched from right to left solo and the right has a huge void coming up from behind and over the top of the pedal circle!
So I worked on that the rest of that ride!
That’s the next priority to towards taking my power and speed to the next level.
Forgot to me that when we were trying to to leave the cabin, the electronic coded key pad to lock and unlock the side door didnt want to work and I even mentioned that the house dint want us to leave!
We ended up locking that door from the inside and exiting a different door and leaving a voic message on the housekeepers voicemail of what happened and the need to get someone over to fix the lock.
I mention all this for those who can see the hand of spirit in life.
It’s always teaching. The only question is are we paying attention?
