Both Capes are wet but Soya is Wettest

Today decided it wanted to be Winter !
As I had not managed to find a closer hotel yesterday I was left with an 80 mile bike ride in strong winds, rain and snow. I only had one plan ... Get up early try to beat some of the bad weather.
I was on the bike by 7am and set off in light rain and light winds quickly passing through Nakatonbetsu at 10 miles. Before Hakatonbetsu I turned left to start heading North and get out of the easterly wind a bit.
I reached the Hokkaido Cycleway which runs parallel to the N238 but it was only a small path and was totally overgrown with vegetation.
So I was on the road and in fairness it wasnt busy, it was however flooding with large puddles it was hard to avoid. By now my feet were very wet and cold despite having over ankle sealed shoes the water was in!
My gloves were soaked too but my core was dry thanks to a good Gore jacket. I was counting the miles down and with 10 miles to the Cape and 30 in total left the road turned slightly inland and uphill and it started to snow quite steadily. Fortunately it wasnt lying due to all the water on the road already.
The wind was now quite strong and coming sraight off the Pacific from the east so it was hitting me on my right - I couldnt wait for the Cape as the toad to Wakkanai turned west !
I passed a few small harbours and then a slightly larger village tucked under a hill wbich I recognised - this was Cape Soya and just round the bend was the most Northerly Point in Japan with a Car Park and monument and statues.
I diverted to the Car Park but was beat to the monument by four Japanese who were taking photos so I waited looking like a drowned puppy dog.
I wheeled the bike and the girl kindly offered to take my picture. This proved difficult as I had lost all grip in my fingers and couldnt get my gloves off or open my jacket pocket.
She helped open it and retrieve my phone and after another struggled to unlock it, eventually she was able to take the all important photo in an absolute squall.
I didnt stop as by now I had quite bad shakes and was losing feeling in my hands and feet.
Fortunately tgat last 20 miles was straight downwind and I was blown into town arriving, having done 79 miles at 12:45 !
So Im now writing this having changed into dry clothes and having lunch in cafe Moccamotari at the station waiting to check in to my hotel at 3pm.
