Scotts Flat, Hoot, Zipper, and Dascombe (the last two going up instead of down unfortunately).
Meeting Steve for the first time and both of us riding these trails for the first time too.
We were both up earlier than the rest of the group. Steve found a route on Trail Forks that we mostly rode. They must have had a bad GPS track because the route was not always on a trail or road, often in between so it was confusing at times.
We actually started off by going the wrong way and had to double back.
Scott’s Flat was great and nice and long too but there’s no great way to climb back up. The best way is on road which wasn’t very steep at least.
Hoot Trail was super fun too. Shorter than Scott’s but also smoother.
At the bottom of Hoot, we weren’t sure where to go. We saw a trail nearby called Zipper that we thought we’d check out. As we were looking a couple of riders dropped down from Hoot so we asked them how to get there. Luckily they said they were headed there too.
I expected them to take us to the top so we could descend it but the took us to the bottom. They were climbing it too which seemed weird. They WERE on eMTBs so maybe going is so fast it feels the same?
After Zipper, we figured we should head back so we could get dinner with everyone else. Dascombe looked promising but it was also (mostly) a climb. Both the trails would be better going the other way.
Overall, really nice and fun trails so far and a nice chill ride to start the weekend.
I’m a huge fan of the climbing ratio today. I don’t think tomorrow is going to be as good.
