World Turtle Day is observed each year on this date. It began in 2000 and is sponsored by American Tortoise Rescue. It was created to help people celebrate and protect turtles and tortoises and their disappearing habitats
A study on the effects of biodiversity awareness days found World Turtle Day and others increase internet search traffic for the protected species.
In case you're wondering, like me, all tortoises are turtles, but not all turtles are tortoises. All tortoises are land creatures, where some turtles live in water. And there are anatomical differences.

I was feeling quite well this morning, recovering from my cold. So I adjusted the seat on the Domane and rode up to the top of Swanton Road and back. The whole ride felt not hard, but I was very tired after I got back. So maybe not completely recovered yet.
I dropped the chain at least four times, shifting to the small chain ring. I think it only happens when I simultaneously shift the rear derailleur, which I do by habit, even though it's probably not a good idea. Bicycle Trip probably adjusted the front derailleur slightly differently, so it's more prone. Today, after I started paying close attention, soft pedaling when shifting to the small chain ring, and doing nothing else at the same time, I didn't have any problem.
Why shift both derailleurs together? Because the big chain ring has run out of lower gears that don't chatter. If I shift to the small chain ring, that makes the gear much lower, rather than only a little lower. So I got into the habit of tapping the rear derailleur twice at the same time, to go two smaller gears down on the casette, which feels right as a slight easier lower gear. And I can do that after the chain ring is done shifting.
