After a peaceful and long sleep on the mountain top, I woke up about 6:30am and slowly got ready. It had rained a bit the night before, but nothing too dramatic.
The weather app said rain from 10:30, so I knew I had to be quick. However, most of the day ahead was downhill so I was bound to make distance very easily.
It turns out the first thing I had to do was actually make it to the very top of the mountain I was on. At the top I reached about 1850m altitude. There was a cafe opening soon and some beautiful lookouts, but unfortunately the air was so foggy it wasn't worth sticking around to have a look.
The first descent took me to a lake still at 1400m altitude. I had breakfast there at a very fancy Lawson and then continued. I had to climb another 200m before descending again, this time all the way to the bottom.
I got to the roadside station just after 11am and it still wasn't raining yet. I spoke to the groundsman briefly and then sat on my phone. Getting hungry again, I went east to a Gusto 8km away. It took a bit of time because it was mostly uphill, but I got there for lunch and stayed until almost 4pm. From that point I decided I'd stay in an internet cafe to dodge the rain overnight. Although, the rain had already started.
From Gusto I headed to Ueda, 18km away. It was an hour in the pouring rain mostly downhill. So, the cycle was easy, but by the time I got there I was drenched. I stopped at a Starbucks thinking I'd spend a few hours there before I checked into the internet cafe, but I was so drenched that I felt bad and didn't go in. I just went straight to the internet cafe, which turns out was right next to a Gusto and I could've gone there all along. Whoops!!
After a long awaited shower I got dinner at a Pakistani restaurant, the food was absolutely delicious. I also got some takeaway chippies for my time chilling in the internet cafe.
