This ride was a total lark. I already had my bike in the car but I was running out of time. Online map showed some roads going between a lake and the ocean. Okay, a quick spin. Wildcat Lake lot was empty and so far what I'd seen were road edges that are broad and safe. That ended quickly. Not far from the lake, where the road drops to meet the ocean, the shoulder became none existent for much of the rest of the ride. Traffic was light, drivers gave me space, and this allowed me to get lost in a kind and leisurely way. Not really lost, just not where I expected. I recommend riding my loop in CCW direction because the climb up away from the ocean was easier than the steep hill I descended. A quiet ride, very forested, and polite local drivers made the main arterials tolerable. Time slipped away and I was late. C'est la vie.
