Sonny’s first ride since getting back from China so he wanted to do something flatter.
The start of the ride was nice and cool but it was starting to get quite warm by the time we got to Los Gatos to visit Fleur de Cocoa. And it just got warmer and warmer from that point on.
Climbing Mt. Eden, we could hear a cement truck coming up behind us. We sped up to try and find a place to pull of but there was none so we ended up doing a PR effort to get to the top where we could pull off. Not at all what we wanted to do, especially with Sonny wanting to ease back into things.
On the way back up Coyote Creek Trail the guys were lagging behind. I think because of the heat.
We took a different way back through San Jose on Three Creeks Trail to Los Gatos Creek Trail which was much more pleasant than the way we normally take.
After lunch at Erik's Delicafe, I was overheating and feeling a little nauseous. In San Jose I saw a Starbucks (at Park and Naglee) and I wanted to stop for a frappuccino but Bob vetoed it. To be fair, I didn’t say how I was feeling, just that I needed it. I guess I thought when I saw the next one, I’d stop if I still needed it.
I continued to feel terrible and the heat was just getting more oppressive. I was looking everywhere for a Starbucks but there weren’t any (that I was able to see from the road) the whole rest of the way back. I was very surprised by that.
I feel better now that I found a Starbucks by Bob’s. I wanted to drink it faster than I did but I was getting brain freeze.
Looking on the map after the fact, we did pass one that was inside a Safeway and another that wasn't on the corner but behind the buildings that were on the corner. I guess I should've pulled out the phone but sometimes you're not thinking straight when you're in distress.
