This is the first day I woke up and my legs were sore. I made sure to get on the road at 7am. Nice beautiful road going up by a river, lake and mountains. Today I have to tackle three climbs, not too big but a good amount of climbing when combined. It was 86 degrees at warmest part of the day. In the mountains I had a very nice cool breeze/headwind coming at me, the fist headwind on the trip that I didn't mind. However on my final decent I came in low and it was hot and the wind that was blowing was now hot. I went through a really cool small town that had a huge 4th of July festival it looked amazing. I then told myself the town I was staying was much bigger and would have something similar. But as I rode into John Day it was crickets, not even one person downtown.
