The weather remains on the warm side, but the air was on the cool side when I got out. My stomach has been sour for the past few days, so I am a bit on the weak side, today was no different. I felt a bit sluggish. At least the wind was going the way I like it. From the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. I made it to the top of OTR in average time. The Banducci Wall had tons of traffic mitigation. I was able to recover after reaching the top. The remainder of the climb was more of the same. I was doing moderate tempo most of the way, while keeping an eye on the traffic. After reaching the summit, I pulled over to recover. I let traffic by and then headed down the mountain. It was safe, no cars from behind the whole way down. The trek through the farmlands was mostly moderate tempo. I made my way around the backside of SS and then onto the short descent. I put in a sprint. I am trying to dial in the correct cadence to start the sprint by selecting the proper gear. It needs work. I reached 40+ MPH in the tuck. I stopped at the local park to take a quick bio, and then to the mini-mart to mix a sport drink. I made it past the tunnel in about 1:10 hours. So, a bit slow. After mixing my powder drink at the mini-mart, I began the trek back to home. It went pretty quick. I had a tailwind that I was hoping for. I passed Boss Hogs in about 1:35 hours. So, I gave up about 5 minutes on the return. I was in no hurry. My body continued to feel sluggish, but I wasn't experiencing soreness in my quads or other muscles. The last climb went well. I did moderate tempo while doing in and out of the saddle efforts. After cresting the summit, I pulled over to feed. I fed a Clif Bar with some water. Shortly after, I got back on the road and to Route 202. Route 202 had lots of traffic mitigation, so I had to let them by before merging on the left turn lane. Descending off OTR was mostly relaxing. I pushed over Mariposa and then to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I had lots to think about. The morale felt good. I was able to put the GI soreness behind in order to deal with the task at hand. Balance and form felt good. Ailments were minimal. Just the sensation of slight weakness. The hands were sore from time to time. The muscles and joints felt good. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal before departing. I fed a Clif Bar and some water during the ride. I drank almost two bottles of sport drink. Gear worked flawlessly. I have to install new handlebar tape. I still have the ones that the bike came with when I bought it. I also have to check the derailleur hanger bolts.
Other notes, I saw 4 or 5 cyclists and a few casual cyclists today.
