just a quiet little spin on the trike, bit disappointed at how, even with e-boost, it's a harder workrate for a given average speed than my 90s restomod acoustic mountain bike. I seriously think it's the e-boost mass, which takes the GVM to 27kg, compared to 20kg shop floor GVM. Running adsurbly low tyre pressure for ride comfort probably isn't helping, either, but since my neck surgery, the comfort factor is essential. Even then, the restomod Giant is more comfortable at 70PSI road pressure (55 on gnarly gravel) compared to Greenie's 20PSI!
What to do? I'm threatening to throw the Schwalbe Smart Sams for some ultralight KMC street tyres. I'm threatening to put a stock bottom bracket in and remove the electrics. (Added advantage of this is I'lso be able to dual-mode on trains again, as Trains in Australia have banned all but factory manufactured e-bikes, even bike shop conversions are banned from trains, even with a disability funding sticker. only factory built ebikes get into railway stations. So giving up on electric assist on Greenie might have other advantages, specifically giving me back trains as a "when I'm 'bonked'" option.
I spent nearly an extra 2 grand on the assist. It now feels like money that would have been better spent on a second 3D printer to double the speed of completing multipart or multicolour prints. I know one thing, The thing that makes the restomod quick and low effort, is the ultra widerange 1x11 speed Deore transmission. I probably need to source something like that and build a new rear wheel first.
Cycling sometimes feels as expensive as 12m yacht racing 😂
