A good ride, nice and cool, Only two of us as Mick was on holiday, hopefully he got to have a ride while he was away in the Lakes! Just a gentle ride, didn’t push it, David wasn’t at his best, but you have to keep going, use it or loose it! ThePlough had a sign saying ‘No food and bar not open till 12:00’ but as it was us they were able to furnish us with coffee and a cheese scone n jam even though it was only 11:30, sat for about an hour or so enjoying that before heading home. Very little traffic on the 698 on the way out and coming back as they still had the road closed for top dressing further toward Berwick, it reopened just after we got back but is still quiet and will stay like it till people realise they can use it again, was much better when Twizel Bridge had a 10 ton limit! 24 miles in total and was just starting to get too warm as we got home. Higher 10 still playing up, not wanting to change up out of the small ring. adjusted the cable tension as I rode and it seemed to work, however I did this before and it overrode and the chain came off on the outside so maybe I have the stop screw correctly positioned this time, I know it should be specific but I do find it a bit hit n miss! There again add in user error and the fact the bike is meant to be 8 speed with a cartridge BB but I’ve changed it to 10 speed with external bearings there is room for error!
