Yesterday I took a bus and a train into Asahikawa, the closest big city to me, and left everything at the campsite but my wheel. I ran into the train without a ticket and so asked the train guard for one, who then scolded me for not having my bike whee in a bag. Japan and it's rules... I spent the day in Asahikawa eating sushi while my wheel got entirely respoked. The service cost ¥18,000, and I also got a rinko bag so I can take my bike on public transport if anything were to happen in the future. Today I spent 2.5 hours getting out of bed and packing up. I had breakfast in the nearest town of Bifuka, then got off the main road as fast as I could. I was getting sick of the beeping, the close calls, and cars travelling in the other direction passing me in my own lane when overtaking. It felt nice to be on back roads again and I quickly made it to Nayoro at around midday. I stopped at the sunflower park for pictures and got a fortune paper for ¥100. I got the worst fortune.... but according to the guy they're all good anyway, and it means I'll blossom in the future. Whatever that means! From there I cycled another 50km to my campsite. I had called in advance and the guy must've waited for me after closing hours, it was at a discount - only ¥100 for the night. A steal!
