The morning started heading west on a rocky dirt road, luckily it was just a few miles before the pavement appeared. Sundays are extra extra quiet along middle of nowhere roads in Montana so we saw almost nobody for most of the trek west which included the 24 mile gravel section up and over Lemhi Pass which features a historic monument to Sacagawea at the summit. The decent is extremely steep requiring much braking and lots of patience. When we reached the highway that would take us to Salmon the market we stopped at last year was closed due to it being Sunday. We would later find that most all of Salmon ID is closed on both Sundays and Mondays so no stop at the delicious Odd Fellows Bakery this year.. We did discover the Junkyard Bistro which had a great shrimp/tomatoe starter, some delicios mac and cheese and some carmel cheesecake for desert!
