I left my campsite around 7. Last night I kept the outer shell of the tent and saw a fox. I decided to let google maps decided the route that would take me to the next convenience store. Maps always seems to take the most random bicycle routes, as it will avoid the main road at all costs. It was a nice ride though, through the farmlands and back roads. At one point the maps didn't acknowledge that I should turn left onto a bridge, but straight ahead was gravel. I just assumed the gravel road was the correct one, so I spent a few km cycling through gravel and lots and lots of insect. It was beautiful though, it felt like I was hiking through the wilderness. After a few kilometres, the road just ended at a field. That's when I realised I had to turn back and had gone done the road for no reason. But of course, it was worth it anyway. My whole trip has no reason if you really think about it, so might as well enjoy the sights! After a small mountain climb I made it to the seicomart. It was about 11am and 29°, the blazing sun made it feels really hot. I looked up the next campsite, 70km away. I discovered this town I'd stopped in had an onsen and a free campsite. So I finished my trip here. The onsen was really nice and it had a big cold plunge which was great. I got lunch at the hotel, the waitress was really accommodating trying to find food I could eat. She ended up offering me a meal that was supposed to be unavailable, because it was the only potential cheap one that was gluten free. It was a ¥1200 chasiu pork rice bowl. The GF soy sauce I found the other day came in clutch. I edited some of my cycle doco and charged all of my things. I went to the campsite at 5pm, by then the reception was closed. But it's a free site, so I just set up anyway.
