Weather is great. I got up and the temperature was below 40 degrees. So, I decided to take a nap after breakfast to let the temperature increase. I got up around 10AM and the weather was in the 60's. Perfect riding weather. And, the skies were blue. I'm not sure, yet, how I'm going to handle the winter months. Will I be able to ride in the morning hours, or will I be forced to wait till the late morning or afternoon. Otherwise, Zwift will have to stand in. The ride went well. I headed out and noticed the wind was somewhat turbulent. When I reached Route 202, the bolt holding my camera in place flew off the bars. It land to the side of the road. I dismounted to find it. It went into some small shrubs. It took me about 6 or 7 minutes to find it. I was prepared to dig into my tool bag to find a spare bolt. Fortunately, I found it. I headed back out. The legs had cooled off, so I had to get them warmed up again. I reached the end of OTR in good time. I think the bike was making some rattling noises when I was nearing the summit of OTR, but I couldn't determine what it was. Nonetheless, it wasn't an issue. I headed up Banducci. Somewhat encouraged by the traffic behind. So, I was pushing it a bit more than average. I was near max at the top of the wall. I was able to recover on the flats and then climb the rest of the mountain. I reached the summit in good time. I took a few moments rest and headed downhill. The wind was slightly on my back, so the downhill was a bit dangerous. I was doing 40MPH+ without trying. When I reached the base, it felt like the wind had died down just a bit. I would say that it was a slight head-wind on the way to SS. I made my way around the backside of SS and headed downhill. I reached the Tunnel in about 58 minutes. I was wondering how much time I would loose on the second leg. I made my way through SS. There was some kind of fair going on. They blocked the road from traffic. I was able to negotiate my way through. Probably giving up about 20 or 30 seconds to my overall time. I made my way out of SS and back on the farmlands. Mostly steady tempo. The wind continued to be turbulent. It felt like a slight tail-wind, all the way to Boss Hogs, and then turned into a headwind from there. I reached Boss Hogs in about 1:21ish. So, I gave up about 3 or 4 minutes, at that point. Prior to this, I had to swap out the camera battery. Before I commenced the last climb, I pulled over to feed. I had half a power bar. I had gone through most of my Cytomax. (I put about 1/2 serving this time). The stomach was behaving. I got back on the road, after that and made my way to the summit. I kept my tempo over the top, no serious digs. I pulled over to feed the other half of my power bar. (When I was feeding, there was a cat perched on a wooden fence. I took some photos). After feeding, I got back on the road, making my way across the false flats. A slight head-wind at that point. Route 202 was mostly traffic mitigation. It didn't feel safe. From OTR, it was mostly fun and games. Concentration was good. Gear worked great. Ailments, next to none. Balance and form was good. Other notes, I saw 3 or 4 cyclists today.
