Nice ride out, Crossed the Bowmont via Haden Bridge then on to West Newton where we tried out a new route round to Coupland via a different bridleway, only has footpath on the gate but the map says bridleway, easy route round which means we can cross the River Glen with David as his bike is too wide for the footbridges at Coupland. Might be harder once it gets wetter but with everything so dry it’s easy, likewise the bridleway past Galewood. It is a bit bumpy but then we are ‘off road’! The rest of the ride round was fairly std.. with little traffic, though there were hoards of people in Etal and the tearooms were doing a roaring trade, must be because it’s the end of the school holidays next week, coffee was good as usual and so were our new chew bars (Peanut). An uneventful ride back home a couple of impatient drivers, as far as I’m aware if I’m doing over 10mph a car isn’t supposed to overtake on solid white lines (single or double) but they can’t wait and that’s going up hill without a view over the top and then into a hidden dip! 30 miles all told.
