Fantastic! When I arrived at the church many of my friends clapped to recognize my new bike! The ride was perfect. The ride is so smooth and soft. The cotton sidewalls soften the ride, 28 mm tires help as does 85 psi up front. The on-the-fly front shock adjustment is so great that now I wonder how I lived without it. I could quickly lock it down for the big ascents that Bill led and I could quickly open it up for the rough roads in central Tucson on the way to Rincon Market. The oil dampened shock really sucks up the bumps and I get to have a very rigid fast bike when I need it for my quick accelerations or strong climbs.
The new Pioneer power meter seems to be spot on. I'm dying to look at the details but I think it captured my ride perfectly.
At the end of the ride I stopped by Oro Valley Bike Shop and Chris was right there to answer all my questions and make some minor adjustments to my fit to help make my next ride even better. (He move my seat up 5mm since my leg angle down was only 25 degrees and I wan to get closer to 30 degrees and give my knees a rest. He rotated the handlebars up just a bit to bring the hoods up and a bit closer to me since the reach is still long. I don't want to shorten the 90 mm stem just yet as I love the aero effect I currently enjoy. My back feels good so for now no adjustment in the stem.
The DI2 works perfectly and I'm only using the fully manual version. It will be awhile before I try the semi and full automatic functions.
The disc brakes made me feel very safe. I was drafting 12-18 inches off bikes at 32-34 mph downhill and I felt safe and in control. They are a bit heavier than the caliper brakes on my SLR but I feel like the slight extra weight is worth it. The SLR was 15.87 lbs. compared to the Roubaix at 16.3 equally compared.
