New Bike Day! First ride on the Lauf Seigla, my new Icelandic gravel grinder. TL;DR: It's a sweet ride. Started with maybe 6 km unrecorded around the neighborhood just to connect the sensors and make sure the bottle cages worked. Came back to the home court and started the route proper, out my usual warm up loop, up Tattarax, then out the gravel part of Marlatt all the way to the highway, then back again. On the return I also digressed out Prairie Star Drive, just to see what was there. The gravel may have been recently renewed; it was moderately loose and dry. The bike handled it like aa mountain goat, staying very stable. Did some probably unwisely fast downhills without realizing it immediately. The gearing is also fine; despite being a weak old man I managed both the Tattarax and Beef Stocker climbs without much issue. With a 40t crank and 10-52t dinner plate cassette one would hope so. The geometry feels more compact than I'm used to, but I haven't adjusted saddle fore/aft or the handlebars yet. Used the Xpedo SPD/flat pedals because they were handy. I have new shoes on order that I will fit Crank Bros cleats to for use with Eggbeaters. The Quarq spindle power meter is giving completely believable numbers. Wore the Canyon/SRAM jersey in honor of the groupset with Nalini bibs. Probably a bit much for the humid conditions (and my not being properly acclimated). It was mostly cloudy, 77°F and 58% relative humidity. Beats 100°F!
