Five Loiterers, Alan, Stuart, Sally, John Mac and Bernie opted to join the ride into the Chilterns. Lilo, who just missed us in Uxbridge found a quicker way to the coffee stop in Chorleywood and joined us there. Plenty of autumn colour in the landscape as we wandered through some amazing countryside and quiet lanes towards the Missbourne Valley. Conversation over lunch focussed on ideas for future rides to distant places. After lunch at the quirky but friendly Red Lion in Little Missenden we headed back through Homer Green, Beaconsfield and Chalfont St Peter. The very attractive stretch through Peen Wood was slightly challenging - rather boggy - but otherwise it was very pleasant cycling. A Garmin malfunction in Beaconsfield led to a brief discussion about alternative routes and a U turn. Two loiterers, who were left behind at this point, opted to find a short cut with one of the two joining the ride again for the last few hundred metres into Uxbridge. A fantastic day’s ride in good company!
