It's raining today. I decided to ride on Zwift. I chose the Innsbruck map. There were hardly any riders on this map. I decided to do two laps around the mountain. I wanted to post a negative split. It took a while to get the trainer to pair with my PC. But I got it to work after a few restarts. I think it took about 8 minutes to reach the foot of the climb. When I got there, I started modest. I was watching my wattage. Trying to stay within 3 W/kg + or - 0.5 W/kg. It was a bit strange, as there were no other riders to gauge my progress, by comparison. So, I kept an eye on the metrics. I was in and out of the saddle. I was keeping an eye on the elevation chart, and how far I was to the summit. So, by that, I was able to gauge my efforts. I posted an average time over the first summit. For the purpose of leaving the door open for a negative split. The descent went quick and I was watching the surroundings so that I can make the correct turn to get back on the climb for a second time. The second time was more serious. I was already warmed up and sweating, so I was able to hit the climb running. The miles went relatively quick. I had music playing in the background, so that helped stave off the boredom. I was trying to keep from red-lining. I was doing 3 W/kg most of the way. I took a few moments on the lesser slopes to recover. When I was approaching the summit, it was apparent that I was going to post a negative split. I kept the tempo going and crossed the summit finish in over a minute up on my previous lap. From there, I headed back down the mountain and into town. I was going to complete the lap, but I was out of time, so I stopped at about 20 miles into the ride. Concentration was good. Somewhat bored of not having anyone else around. Balance and form was good. Ailments, next to none. Maybe hints of knee soreness. Gear worked flawless, once everything was up and running. Other notes, I took the KOM jersey about 1 minute before stopping. Apparently the previous winner had logged off just then.
