Nine riders set off from the hotel to elevenses at Whisby Nature Park. We then headed south up the Witham valley through Norton Disney. Continuing on we rode towards Brough crossing over the A46 before joining the A1133 to Collingham and lunch at The Grey Horse.
Replete we left Collingham following NCR64 on road through South Scarle turning off to North Scarle and Spalford and rejoining the A1133 for short way.
On quieter road we rode through South Clifton to join NCR647 0n the trackbed of the former Lancashire, Derbyshire and East Coast Railway.
We were near the River Trent so we cycled west to cross the Trent on the impressive Fledborough Viaduct. Opened in 1897, it consists of 59 arches spread either side of four metal girder spans which cross the river itself. Nine million bricks were used in its construction which cost £65,000.
Returning back across the river we headed straight down the trail leaving at the site of Harby Station. We then made our way to afternoon tea at Doddington Hall Down a very busy, fast road. Doddington Hall boasts a Large farm shop and cafe.
After tea a gentle four miles ride back to the hotel.
