The second available L'Etape du Tour course let's us explore a strange new world called "France". Specifically the route called “casse-pattes” (literally “leg-breaking”), for it's variable terrain. What we Flint Hills dwellers call "normal". It was two laps of 23 km with a 0.9 km lead-in, and then I spun out to 50 km for my cool-down. Note that I started the Garmin about 1:30 late because I just barely made it to the start lint in time and got distracted by the 2000 strong mass start. Started off about 1750th out of 2000-odd and spent the first lap as a tourist, ogling Mont Saint-Michel and the Pont du Gard. For the second lap I paid attention to the sprints and the KOM and did well. I fell into a good, similarly able group. I would sprint ahead of them just maintaining my pace, they'd catch up and I'd draft a bit, then sprint back ahead. When we hit the serious sprints and the KOM on the back half of the course I mostly dropped them. Finished the main 47.3 km race about 1475th of 2050 by the in-game list, in 1:26 at 156 W average in-game. That was 859th/953 in 1:27:12 by Zwift Power at 2.2w/kg or 156 W average. Continued the practice of eating a gel every 20 minutes and starting with a bottle of Built Boost, which seems to work well. Also went through three headbands and adopted the pro practice of just throwing old bidons and sweaty bands off the side of the road.

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
