Up at Johnny's, ate our breakfast, in for coffee at the Jogas Espresso Cafe (amazing coffee). And off we were. Started out on a part of KVR paved, then through to our next stop at the Christina Lake Centre, snacks and a look at the lake on a cool walking pathway. A very long conversation with a man who was sure I wasn't cut off for Salmo Pass (the next day), and we were off. This day had some of my least favourite riding, no shoulder, rough roads descending from the top (around 50k) , unhappy drivers too close. But what an unbelievable, never ending descent. Into Castlegar, to the Best Western. Good place to stay. One of the few decent restaurants (Thai) attached; and the only craft brewery on the other side below (which was terrific and the Thai place delivered). Thai place was struggling under the COVID pressures of take-out and volume. We did a good "sculpture walk" and went to the suspension bridge, recommend both. Not much else in Castlegar (sorry).
